History & Origins

Cut the Rope was released in 2010 by ZeptoLab and became an instant mobile gaming phenomenon. Created by Russian developers Semyon Voinov and Efim Voinov, it combined intuitive touch controls with satisfying physics puzzles centered around feeding candy to a mysterious little green creature named Om Nom.

The game's genius lay in its simplicity: swipe to cut ropes, and gravity does the rest. But beneath that simplicity was a deep puzzle system built on real physics — pendulum swings, momentum transfer, and multi-step Rube Goldberg-style solutions. Each level pack introduced new mechanics like bubbles, air cushions, and teleporters, keeping the puzzle design fresh across hundreds of levels.

This version faithfully recreates the core rope-cutting physics with verlet integration, adds Three.js rendering for smooth visuals, and features 15 hand-crafted levels spanning four chapters — from basic cuts to complex combinations of ropes, bubbles, and air cushions. Om Nom is still hungry.
