1. Introduction
YoyoArena operates a free browser gaming platform at yoyoarena.com, featuring a library of original arcade, puzzle and strategy games built by the YoyoArena team. Your privacy matters to us, and this document describes the specific types of data we gather, the reasons behind each use, the safeguards we apply, and the choices available to you as a user.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "YoyoArena" mean the people who run yoyoarena.com. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@yoyoarena.com.
By accessing or interacting with any part of the YoyoArena platform, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understood the practices outlined here. If any provision is unacceptable to you, we ask that you discontinue use of the platform immediately.
2. Categories of Data We Gather
Throughout your interactions with YoyoArena, we may obtain various kinds of information, including but not limited to:
- Account Details: When you register, we collect your email address, a username, a display name and a password (stored only in hashed form, never as plain text), plus optional profile information you choose to give, such as your date of birth and country. We may also work out your country from your IP address when you sign up or while you are signed in, and we store only the country code with your account. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your Google account identifier, name and email address from Google.
- Account Activity: We keep the time of your last sign-in, whether your email address has been verified, whether notification emails are switched on for your account, and simple counters and timestamps that record which notification emails we have already sent you.
- Behavioral and Interaction Data: On the pages where Google Analytics loads (see Section 9), it records details about your visits, such as the pages you view, the page that referred you and how long a visit lasts.
- Gameplay Records: Scores and personal bests inside the games are kept in your browser, not on our servers. For accounts that took part in the rewards program before it was paused, we also hold the records of the rewarded sessions assigned to that account: the time each session was opened and completed, and the reward amount.
- Rewards Program Records: The rewards program is paused. For accounts that took part before the pause, we keep the balance recorded on the account, the number of rewarded sessions completed and the completed-session timestamps tied to it. We do not currently collect payout-method or payment details.
- Technical Identifiers: Your IP address, browser type and version, operating system and similar technical details are sent to our servers with every request. We use them to deliver pages, keep the platform secure and troubleshoot problems. Our web server and application also keep ordinary logs, which can include IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested and, for account actions such as sign-up, sign-in and password reset, the email address or username involved. Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google reCAPTCHA receive similar details when they load (see Section 9).
- Push Notification Subscriptions: If you enable browser notifications from the dashboard, we store the push subscription (endpoint and encryption keys) and basic browser details needed to send them; the notifications themselves are delivered through your browser's own push service. You can stop browser notifications at any time in your browser's site settings.
3. Purposes for Processing Your Data
We rely on the data described above to deliver, maintain, and enhance the YoyoArena experience. Specifically, we process your information to:
- Set up, authenticate, and administer your player account and associated profile.
- Keep the optional date of birth and country (given by you or worked out from your IP address) on your profile. They are shown to you in your account settings and to the administrators who run the platform, and we do not currently use them for anything else.
- Keep the records of the paused rewards program: maintain the balance and completed-session records already recorded on an account, and answer questions about them.
- Analyze aggregate usage trends so we can refine our game catalog, interface design, and feature set.
- Deliver important service communications such as account confirmations, security notifications, and policy updates.
- Send optional emails about new games and blog posts to accounts with a verified email address (this is switched on by default, and every such email includes an unsubscribe link) and, if you enable them, browser notifications.
- Review activity that appears to violate our fair play standards.
- Address your inquiries, feedback, and support requests.
- Protect sign-up from automated abuse.
- Allow Google AdSense to show advertising on some pages (see Section 9).
4. When and How We Share Data
We do not give your account details (email address, username, name or date of birth) to advertisers. Some data is shared with outside parties in the circumstances below, including the Google services described in Section 9, which receive technical details such as your IP address when their scripts load:
- Trusted Partners and Vendors: We engage third-party companies for specialized services. Current categories include: email delivery (SendGrid, used for transactional account, security, and notification email); hosting and infrastructure (the platform and its database are hosted on cloud infrastructure that processes data on our behalf); advertising, analytics and bot protection (Google AdSense, Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA, see Section 9); web fonts (Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads its fonts).
- Compliance and Safety: We may disclose information when we have a good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, enforce our terms, investigate potential violations, or protect the rights and safety of YoyoArena or its users.
- Corporate Transactions: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users before their data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Public Profile Information: YoyoArena does not currently have public profiles or community-facing areas. If that changes, this policy will be updated first. Balances recorded on accounts are never made public.
5. Protecting Your Information
We implement a layered security strategy that includes data encryption in transit (HTTPS), and access controls limiting who can reach personal data.
Despite these precautions, no digital platform can guarantee absolute security. We strongly encourage you to use a unique, strong password for your YoyoArena account and to notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized access.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We do not set fixed retention periods for the data described above. We keep your account details, the records of the paused rewards program and any push subscription for as long as your account exists and as long as we need them to run the platform, review activity for abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
Closing an account and deleting data are handled by email: write to info@yoyoarena.com (see Section 7). When you ask us to close your account or erase your data, we remove or anonymize the personal data we are not required or entitled to keep. Data that Google and SendGrid process is kept under their own policies.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Applicable privacy laws may grant you specific rights over the personal data we hold. These rights may include:
- Right of Access: Obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data and request a copy of it.
- Right to Rectification: Ask us to update or correct any personal data that is inaccurate or outdated.
- Right to Erasure: Request that we remove your personal data from our records, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format for transfer to another service.
- Right to Opt Out of Notifications and Withdraw Consent: Stop notification emails at any time with the unsubscribe link in any of them, and stop browser notifications in your browser's site settings. Account and security emails are not affected.
- Right to Complain: Lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live.
To make a privacy request, such as accessing, correcting or deleting your data or closing your account, email info@yoyoarena.com. Please write from the email address of your account, or mention it in your message, so that we can find your records.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
YoyoArena and the third-party services it uses rely on cookies and similar browser storage. In practice:
- Sign-in cookie: When you sign in, we set an authentication cookie (
access_token) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is needed for accounts to work. - Browser storage on your device: Many games keep your scores and progress in your browser's local storage, and the site remembers when you dismiss a banner. This data stays on your device.
- Google Analytics: On the pages where it loads, it uses cookies to measure visits (see Section 9).
- Google AdSense: On the pages where it may show ads, Google and its advertising partners may place and read cookies (see Section 9).
- Google reCAPTCHA: The sign-in and sign-up pages may use it to tell people from automated scripts (see Section 9).
- Google Fonts: Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may stop some features, such as staying signed in, from working.
9. Third-Party Advertising and Ad Technology
YoyoArena uses Google services for advertising, measurement and bot protection. Google AdSense may show ads on some pages (currently the home page and the blog articles). Google Analytics (loaded through Google's gtag.js tag) measures visits on most pages of the site, but not on this Privacy Policy page. Google reCAPTCHA may run on the sign-in and sign-up pages. Third parties, including Google and its advertising partners, may place and read cookies or use similar technologies on your device, and may use your IP address, to serve ads, to limit how often you see a given ad, to measure how ads perform and, where personalised ads are allowed, to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by their Privacy & Terms — How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google describes how it handles business data on its Business Data Responsibility site.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our pages set Google's consent defaults to "denied" for advertising and analytics storage. Google may still receive basic request information, such as your IP address, when its scripts load. We do not currently run a separate cookie-consent dialog.
You can learn more about targeted advertising and opt out of personalised ads from many providers by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative (networkadvertising.org) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (aboutads.info). Google provides additional opt-out controls at google.com/settings/ads.
Where reCAPTCHA runs, it collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it.
10. Privacy of Minors
YoyoArena is designed for users who are at least 13 years old. We do not intentionally solicit or gather personal data from anyone under this age threshold. If a parent or guardian discovers that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without proper consent, please email us at info@yoyoarena.com and we will take steps to remove the data.
11. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Because YoyoArena operates globally, your data may be stored or processed on servers located outside your country of residence. These jurisdictions may apply different data protection standards. By using the platform, you consent to having your information transferred to and processed in such locations. The services listed in Section 4 may process data in other countries, and their own policies describe how they protect it.
12. Revisions to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to revise this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features. When we make material updates, the revised policy will be published on this page with a new Last Updated date. We recommend checking this page periodically so you stay informed about how we handle your data.
